She then met the love of her life, Pedro Escobar Gonzalez, whom she married and began their family of 5 children. In 1957, Maria returned to America to seek the life as an American in her native born country. Her family, the Gutierrez’s, are recognized in the town of San Felipe for bringing the first industrial machinery to grind and produce mass corn products for that era. Her family farm grew, harvested, and packaged varieties of corn. As a young lady, Maria worked on the family farm as well as the family store. Maria’s father, Daniel, stayed behind in America to continue working and completing agricultural contracts.
In 1939, Maria, along with her mother and siblings moved to San Felipe de los Herreros, Michoacan de Ocampo, Mexico to establish and later became pioneers of the pueblito. Maria was born Septemto Daniel Gutierrez and Julia Valencia in Clemenceau, Arizona. Maria Luz Gonzalez passed away peacefully in home on Saturday, Jwith her loving family by her bedside. George will be sorely missed but he will ALWAYS be in our Hearts. George reached out to the community with donated trees to the Police, Firefighters, Schools, Churches and other Organizations. There he met many people from the community and started many cherished relationships he had until he retired in 2020. It didn’t start like he wanted and those first few years were rough, but he turned it around into a major tree retail center. Shortly after he started his Christmas Tree Lot here in Santa Maria. That same year he married his Wife, Lupe. This is when he moved to the Santa Maria Area as a Produce Buyer in 1983. Eventually all of this slowed down and the focus was more on produce. He sold them from China and throughout the United States. George became a Tree Broker and for many years sold close to a million trees annually. George eventually moved on from Stater Brothers to purchasing Produce and yes-Christmas Trees. This lot prospered with many of Georges sales promotions and discounts. This lot was on the corner of G and Baseline. As he got older he worked for Stater Brothers and during the Christmas Tree season he would have saved his vacation to work his own tree lot. George lived with them during the Christmas tree season and worked at their lot. The Savage’s became his unofficial adopted parents. George’s other passion of life, his love of Christmas Trees, began when he was 8 years old. Unfortunately, he Injured his ankle forcing him to the end of his Baseball Career. After high School, Baseball took him to the Semi-Pro League. He excelled in High School baseball with many reviews in the newspaper.
As he grew up Baseball and Christmas Trees were George’s passion. He was raised in the San Bernardino area.
